Iced matcha: recipe for cold matcha latte tea (with video)
Iced matcha, or cold brew, is a refreshing drink that is ideal for discovering matcha tea because it is not bitter at all when prepared cold. And what's more, it's super easy to make.
To prepare for one person, you will need:
- A container that can be used as a shaker, here I use my kinto, ice cubes,
- your favorite organic matcha - 1 to 2g
- and water between 200-300ml
The recipe in video
In this video, I show you the recipe to realise a refreshing iced matcha tea:
Today, I'm choosing an ultra-premium organic premium matcha. I'm going to use 2g of matcha or 2 bamboo scoops, which I'll put in my shaker.
To fully enjoy the benefits of tea, you can order organic matcha tea online and incorporate it into your daily routine. This will prevent lumps from forming in your drink.
For individual preparation, provide 1 bottle of cold water and our organic matcha for an authentic flavour.
After shaking my shaker vigorously, I add the rest of my ice cubes and a little more water.
Shake, shake, and it's ready! Pour into a glass or bowl.
The result: a tasty, flavorful drink that's refreshing with a sweet finish—delicious and thirst-quenching! This recipe is a great way to enjoy the many benefits of organic matcha.
Iced matcha latte recipe
To make an iced matcha latte, choose your milk of choice and add it to your matcha to turn it into a matcha latte. There are many options, but I always recommend organic plant-based milk, such as oat milk, almond milk, or coconut milk, rather than cow's milk.

Which matcha should you use to make iced matcha?
I recommend experimenting with several teas to discover their cold-brewed flavors. The ideal matcha will be of good quality with a beautiful green colour for a rich and creamy taste.
An entry-level organic matcha tea such as culinary grade matcha is more suitable for a matcha latte, as the milk reduces the bitterness.
My recommendations in our Kumiko range:
-
organic premium matcha - the most popular and appreciated
-
organic Okumidori matcha - single cultivar, excellent value for money
-
organic Saemidori matcha - a single cultivar, which is the community's favorite
-
organic ultra-premium matcha - a grand cru for a decadent experience
-
organic matcha Ipponmatsu - highly aromatic terroir tea
-
organic culinary matcha - an economical option that is delicious in lattes
Recipe tips and variations
-
As this is tea powder, which is sensitive to oxidation, this drink should be consumed within an hour of preparation.
-
If you are not drinking your matcha immediately, shake it again before drinking.
-
Slowly and gently pour the contents of your shaker into your glass or bowl to get more creamy froth.
-
If you are preparing for several people, you can use a ratio of 1g of tea to 200mL of water. Adjust to your taste: if you prefer a more creamy/thicker drink, use a little more matcha tea or less water.
-
You can also replace the water with coconut water, it's delicious.
-
Sugar, honey, maple syrup, vanilla extract: not necessary if you use high quality matcha.
Matcha Latte Granita Recipe

After the ultra-premium organic matcha tea ice cream, Sabine has prepared a delicious new refreshing matcha tea recipe for summer: a matcha latte granita made with organic premium matcha.
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 350 ml of plant-based milk
- 3 teaspoons of organic premium matcha
- 120 ml of water

In a blender, mix the plant-based milk, water, honey, and organic premium matcha tea.
Pour the mixture into an airtight container and leave to set in the freezer for at least 5 hours.
Remove the container from the freezer 5 minutes before serving.
Using a fork, scrape the mixture to make the granita.
Divide the granita between glasses and serve immediately.
