As with any plant, the tea plant is made up of several varieties called cultivars or varietals. It is comparable to the world of wine with Chardonnay, Merlot varietals; or for fruit trees we have Gala, Granny Smith apples, etc.

Here we have 3 2022 vintage matcha teas with unique varietals, sourced from the highest-quality tea plant leaves and unique "single origin" terroirs from our partner farmers. It is very special to be able to taste the pure varietal. The quality is exceptional and every sip is a flavor journey. These matcha are among our community's favorites!

Our Okumidori, Yabukita, and Saemidori matcha are among the most loved in our range. They let you enjoy a single pure cultivar, of ultra-high quality (comparable to our ultra-premium organic matcha), at a super affordable price, and even organically grown!

I recommend trying these 4 preparation methods:

  • 🍵 to prepare matcha tea usucha, use 1 to 2 grams of powder for 80mL of hot water at 70°C - this is the common matcha preparation and the one we enjoy most often
  • ☕️ "matchaspresso" preparation: use 1g for 20-30mL of water at 80 °C (just enough to fill an espresso cup)
  • 🤩 thick preparation koicha: use 4-5g for 30mL of water at 80°C
  • ☀️ in summer, try a cold preparation coldbrew: shake 1-2g with 250mL of cold water in a shaker, it's very refreshing and delicious
