✅ Excellent quality - handmade - with a bamboo spoon and a 100-tine bamboo matcha whisk, you have the perfect accessories to prepare a matcha tea with a smooth and creamy foam.

💡 These "conventional" matcha tea whisks are made in China using traditional Japanese methods. I decided to offer them to the Kumiko Matcha community to make discovering organic matcha tea as accessible and affordable as possible.

For hundreds of years, matcha tea has been prepared with the same tools: a bamboo spoon to delicately scoop the matcha green tea powder, and a bamboo whisk to whisk the tea and obtain a creamy, delicious foam.

The bamboo matcha whisk (called chasen in Japanese) is handmade by skilled artisans from a single piece of bamboo, which is meticulously cut into 100 tines. An artisanal matcha whisk is an object of great quality.

It is not possible to produce these bamboo chasen with a machine, which is why they are all unique. Our bamboo matcha whisks are designed to create a perfectly frothy and creamy matcha.

The bamboo spoon (called chashaku in Japanese) is traditionally used to scoop a small amount of matcha to make tea.

This spoon is carved from a piece of bamboo and steamed and bent by hand. It is a process that requires a great deal of patience and dexterity to avoid breaking the bamboo.

With a bamboo spoon and a bamboo matcha whisk, you have the perfect accessories to prepare a matcha tea with a smooth, creamy foam.

Preparing matcha with a traditional chawan bowl

  • Add one to two scoops of matcha to a chawan bowl, then add a splash of cold water.
  • Whisk with the bamboo whisk until you get a beautiful, fine, creamy foam.
  • Add hot water at around 70 degrees (note: not boiling water).
