Iced Matcha Tea with Coconut Water
Here is a refreshing new recipe for the end of summer (or rather the beginning of Indian summer!) that I have carefully concocted for you: Matcha and coconut water iced tea. It's simply delicious, and I make at least 1 litre at a time because it's so easy. It's a very hydrating drink, full of antioxidants and coconut water that contains no added sugars, no concentrate, and is naturally full of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.
This iced tea recipe takes about 5 minutes to realise, can be prepared in advance, and is packed with electrolytes to keep you hydrated on hot days. The combination of the tartness of lemon, the natural sweetness of coconut water, and the green tea flavour of matcha will give you a flavoursome, refreshing, and healthy iced tea that you can drink without moderation :)
Ingredients for a 1L carafe
- 3 oranges - two and a half for juice and half for garnish
- 3 limes - 2 for juice and 1 for garnish
- 6g of matcha tea
- 1 litre bottle of coconut water (note: this is coconut water, not coconut milk)
- ice cubes
Method Personally, I peeled and blended my oranges because I wanted to eat the pulp (for the vitamins!), but what I recommend for a truly flavoursome iced matcha tea is to just juice them.
=> Start by pouring the juice of 2½ oranges into your carafe.
Then prepare your matcha with hot water as if you were going to drink it, but using very little water. => Prepare a matcha tea with 6g of matcha (six bamboo scoops) and add it to the mixture in your carafe.
Then squeeze 2 limes into a cup and add the juice to the carafe, being careful not to include the seeds.
Don't forget to slice the remaining half of the orange and the lime: this is for garnishing if you want to serve beautiful drinks now, or add everything to the carafe to soak and add flavour. At this point, all you have to do is fill the carafe to the brim with coconut water and your delicious matcha iced tea is ready!
A great serving suggestion: add ice cubes and a few mint leaves to a glass...
...then serve and enjoy the tasting :)
Then keep your carafe in a cool place and consume within 2-3 days maximum.
