One of my missions with Kumiko Matcha is to be a force for good in the world and, at my own level, to embody the change I wish to see.

To stay true to this commitment and involve our community in this mission, we celebrate the importance of community reviews with our initiative: reviews 🍵 = trees planted 🌳

For this, I chose to support PUR Projet, founded by Tristan Lecomte in 2008 to fight climate change and deforestation.

1 review = €1 to Pur Projet🍵🌳

For every review, we give €1 to PUR Projet to help plant trees through their reforestation projects.

The reviews counted for this initiative are those published on kumikomatcha.fr by our verified customers (you must have placed a real order on the site) and validated according to our criteria of honest and respectful reviews.

What does this mean for you? For every product in every order at Kumiko Matcha, you have the opportunity to share your review with the community and at the same time help plant a tree.

"See community reviews"

In 2020 we repeated our "anti Black Friday" campaign in order topromote more conscious end-of-year shopping. During this event, which kicks off the holiday gift season, we donated 10% of our sales to our partner Pur Projet.

Thanks to everyone, the Kumiko Matcha community planted 192 trees in 2020 🍵🌳✊

Concretely, where are these trees planted and what are they for?🌳

The project we support is a pioneering agroforestry and reforestation project in the Peruvian Amazon.

The San Martín region was heavily deforested in the 1980s, when Peru experienced a sharp increase in illicit coca cultivation and the Amazonian regions were ruled by drug trafficking. As a result, the quality of the soil and the ecosystem declined in an area previously recognized as a biodiversity hotspot.

In this context, local cooperatives were created to develop alternative crops. The cooperatives bring together families of small-scale producers of fair-trade, organic cacao who plant trees following forestry models on degraded and unused land, as well as on cultivated plots where they implement agroforestry practices.

The project is also developing tree planting in the Amazonas region, which has faced high deforestation due to the expansion of cattle ranching.

The goal is not only to plant trees, but also to empower local communities to protect these forests by integrating them into their farming activity: this is agroforestry - a model of harmony between forest and agriculture, nature and people.

If you'd like to learn more, I'm sharing with you the full PDF report that Pur Projet sent us about this operation in Peru.

The full report is in English, and even if you don't understand the language well, I invite you to take a look to discover the wonderful photos of the wildlife and flora that you are helping to preserve by supporting Kumiko Matcha and PUR Projet 🙏 🍵

One last point for today:

Reviews of our Kumiko products mean a lot to me. I read every single one, I'm so happy and proud to receive them, and they are super important to the survival of my small business because they express the satisfaction of our community.

For many other businesses today, reviews left by their customers online are super important: from the biggest e-commerce site to the smallest, we all receive review requests after making a purchase.

That's why it is possible to create a virtuous circle between the customer, the business, and nature with this kind of initiative.

But today, almost no one applies this idea to online reviews.

So why not spread the practice! I've written a short script you can use to respond to the next review requests you receive by email:

"Thank you for your review request. I like this company's approach (Kumiko Matcha), which donates €1 per review to a social and environmental cause. I suggest you do the same. What do you think?"

Thanks to you, maybe this regenerative practice can spread...🤓
